Small Business Highlight: ENLY

Updated: Mar 5, 2024

I am a creature of habit in plenty of aspects of my life, but when it comes to cafés, checking out as many cool new coffee shops as I can is my mission. So when I return to the same place this many times, you know it has to be good. ENLY is a quaint café + candle shop tucked away in the neighborhood of Nolita. The small business turns 2 this upcoming summer and is owned/operated by model Enly Tammela.

ENLY ranks so highly on my list of cafés for a few different reasons. Starting off with my favorite quality of theirs: they are constantly coming up with new flavor combos and fun drinks to try (which never miss, in my humble opinion). Each of their syrups are made in house with fresh fruit/tea and trust, you can taste the difference. Pictured on the left is the hibiscus matcha latte; not only is she gorgeous but she tastes like fruity pebbles in the best way possible.

The interior of the shop alone could keep me coming back. It feels luxurious and modern without sacrificing coziness. It isn't necessarily somewhere you can hunker down at for hours behind your laptop screen -due to the limited seating- but it is my go-to suggestion for catching up with a friend.

ENLY is also fairly well known for their non-toxic candles. They're made from coconut wax and feature wooden wicks. However, as of late, ENLY is popular for their viral tiramisu latte (pictured to the right). I can proudly say I tried it prior to the hype, and can vouch that it is one of the best lattes I've ever tasted. I prefer it warm with espresso, but you can get it iced and/or with matcha as well. The sweet fluffy mascarpone is like a warm pillow hugging your lips.

With all of this being said, this café definitely isn't the cheapest you'll find in the city, but if you're like me and you prioritize spending your money on the tiny luxuries of life, it is indeed worth it to check out. Next time I find myself in the mood to splurge and am willing to spend $12 on a bevy, I will be giving the banana cream cold brew a whirl at 227 Mott St <3
