Small Business Highlight: Gimaguas

Although I've been a fan of the Spanish fashion brand Gimaguas since discovering it this past summer being worn on Lily Rose Depp, I recently re-fell in love with the brand after browsing their newest collection (under the means of procrastinating doing my homework, of course). Founded in 2018, Gimaguas is known for its vibrant, eclectic, & contemporary designs inspired by travel, art, and nature.

Birthed by sisters, Sayana and Claudia Durany, this label reflects their love for exploration and cultural diversity. They offer a range of clothing & accessories designed in their hometown, Barcelona, often in collaboration with artisans anywhere from Rajasthan to Formentera. Gimaguas incorporates sustainable practices

into its production process & proudly manufactures domestically in Spain.

With a focus on carefree silhouettes, bespoke prints, technical knitwear, and craft-inspired detail, this brand is the epitome of effortlessly cool. They offer a variety of basic pieces as well as more unique items with quality at the core of every design. You can find their one of a kind wardrobe staples for justifiable mid/high range prices. Aside from their Barcelona flagship store, you can shop the, at online at gimaguas.com, SSENSE.com, lisasaysgah.com & more.

I'll admit that I am a sucker for branding, along with many other consumers in today's world. Gimaguas has all the things I look for in a brand: It's fun, playful, chic, sometimes mysterious, sometimes humorous, & has major European vibes (those that get it, get it). Their shoots give high fashion, yet not unattainably so. They found a perfect balance, which I think has been another contributing factor to their success when it comes to Gen Z consumers.

With all of this being said, one request I have for the brand would be more transparency. I tried to find them on the sustainability/ethics rating tool "Good On You", but was disappointed. They've positioned themselves as sustainable fashion line, but when it comes down to it, their supply chain transparency is lacking. Once I can confirm their green promise, the shorts on the left are mine!
